The Split were born out of sporadic writing, rehearsal, and drinking sessions between Charlie Duerr (vocals, guitar) and Tim
Gray (drums), two high school friends reunited in New York City.
They became a band with the addition of bassist Lee Ferran and guitarist Steve Oben. The Split's sound melded out of their favorite elements of 60's pop and rock n roll combined with garage rock energy.
